Privacy Policy

Shotgun is a community for car enthusiasts in Orange County, California, launching this year. Today the site is a waitlist and application — we're not yet offering rides. This policy explains what we collect when you join the list or apply, how we use it, and the choices you have.

We only collect what you give us and a little basic technical data:

• Contact details — your name, email address, and/or phone number.
• Application details — if you apply as an owner or a shotgunner: information about your car, your preferences, what feels fair to you, availability, and the meets you attend.
• Optional uploads — photos you choose to add (you can crop out plates; we don't need them).
• Basic technical data — your device/browser type and general usage, to keep the site working.

We don't ask for, or want, government IDs, payment details, or sensitive personal information at this stage.

To run the waitlist and review applications by hand.

To match owners and shotgunners, and to reach out about your application and when rides open.

To improve the experience and understand interest in different cities and cars.

We never use your information to make decisions we'd be embarrassed to explain to you.

We share personal information only with service providers who help us operate — for example, our hosting/database provider and our email or SMS provider — and only so they can perform those services for us under contract.

We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the safety and rights of our community.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising — as those terms are defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA).

If you're a California resident, the CCPA/CPRA gives you the right to:

• Know what personal information we've collected about you and how we use it.
• Access a copy of that information.
• Correct inaccurate information.
• Delete your information.
• Opt out of any sale or sharing (note: we don't sell or share).
• Not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.

We use only essential cookies needed to run the site, plus privacy-respecting analytics to understand traffic in aggregate. We don't use third-party advertising trackers.

We keep your information for as long as you're on the list or as needed to operate, and we'll delete it on request. We use reasonable safeguards to protect it, though no online service can be perfectly secure.

Shotgun isn't directed to anyone under 18, and we don't knowingly collect information from minors.

We may update this policy as Shotgun grows. We'll change the date at the top when we do, and material changes will be made clear.
