For riders
How does Shotgun work?+
You pick the exact car you've always wanted to ride in, the owner drives, and you ride along, to your night out, your big day, or just for the drive. You get the car and the story; you never touch the wheel.
Do I need to know the owner?+
Not at all, that's the whole point. Shotgun is the way into cars you'd never feel right walking up and asking about. We make the introduction, the owner drives, you enjoy the ride.
What kind of cars can I ride in?+
Real ones, kept right, the sun-chasing 911, the patina'd '73 Bronco, the build someone poured years into. Every car is curated and owner-driven. If someone loves it enough to drive it like it matters, it belongs. Neglected doesn't make the cut.
What does a ride cost?+
Joining the list is free. When we launch, you'll see the exact car and the exact price up front, no cover charge to look cool, no surprises.
Is this like Uber?+
Kind of, think Uber for car enthusiasts. The difference: instead of whatever sedan is closest, you pick the exact car you want and its owner drives you. It's a real, insured, licensed ride, the car is just the best part. It's not a rental either, you never drive it.
Is riding with Shotgun safe?+
It's built to be. Every ride is owner-driven and fully insured, every car is inspected and curated, and the owner knows both the car and the road. And unlike a normal rideshare, both sides are vetted, so you're riding beside someone who does this because they love it. More on our trust and safety approach: bookshotgun.com/trust.
Can I book for a wedding or special event?+
Absolutely. Roll up to your wedding in a classic, take a date out in something unforgettable, or just get picked up for a regular Tuesday. Any car, any reason.
Any age limit? Can I bring a kid or a dog?+
Riding along is open, no hard age gate. Bringing a kid or your dog is your call, just clear it with the owner first, since it's their car and their ride. And every rider's vetted before the seat's yours, car people who get it, not randoms.
When and where can I ride?+
First rides drop this year in Orange County, with more cities to come. Join the list and we'll reach out the moment seats open.
For hosts
Do hosts get paid?+
Yes. Your time and your car are worth real money, and you're paid fairly for every drive, you'll have the full numbers before the first ride opens. The story is why you're here; getting paid is just respect for your time.
Do I stay in control of my car?+
Always. You're the one driving, every time, riders ride along in the passenger seat, hear the story, and feel the road. The car never leaves your hands. Your call, your car.
What kind of cars get in?+
Cars with a story. Pristine, original, or built on purpose, kept right by someone who loves them. Custom builds are welcome; neglected isn't. If yours draws a crowd at a local meet, it belongs.
What's actually expected of me?+
Less than you'd think. You pick which rides you take and where you go, a coast run, a night out, someone's big day. You drive, you set the terms; we handle the booking, the insurance, and the rest.
How does my car get approved?+
Simple. You apply, and before your car goes live it passes a standard safety inspection, brakes, tires, lights, belts. Most well-kept enthusiast cars pass easily, and we walk you through it, you don't figure it out alone.
How do you protect my car and me as a host?+
Every shotgunner is vetted before they're in your car, the thing a normal rideshare never does. You always drive, you approve the ride, you pick the drives, and every trip is fully insured. Your car, your rules. More at bookshotgun.com/trust.
What about insurance and the legal side?+
We handle it, not you. Shotgun operates as a licensed rideshare, so when rides launch every trip is covered by commercial ride insurance, your car, your rider, all of it. The license, insurance, and legal stack are locked down before the first seat opens; it never lands on you.
When can I start hosting?+
First cars roll out this year in Orange County. Apply to host now and you'll be among the first we bring on as seats open.
